This is my escape....
Growing up, I spent many hours cooking, gardening, having afternoon tea, traveling and shopping with my grandmother. The sights and smells from my earlier years bring me great joy. Sharing this experience in my home with family and friends is extending the love and kindness shown to me by my grandmother. I can solve the world‘s problems with a day of cooking, reading recipes and strolling through beautiful gardens!
I am from a large family of amazing cooks. My parents each have six siblings, which equates to many Aunts and Uncles and a lot of cousins. We spend many hours around the dinning room table for family dinners and holiday gatherings.
My parents entertained at home weekly with dinner parties and get togethers to stay connected with friends and family. My Mother had “all hands on deck“ and we helped! Looking back, it taught me so much.
I often have my children help in the kitchen. We sit at the kitchen table for dinner each evening, as their schedules allow. They are responsible for setting the table. They set out a full place setting with a place mat, charger, cloth napkins and silverware. It is our time to connect after a long day. And, it allows me some uninterrupted "Mom time."
After college graduation, I worked for a large public accounting firm focused on financial modeling in litigation matters. I continued my education as a graduate student in business school with an MBA. My work has allowed me the opportunity to travel worldwide. It mostly takes me to NYC and Boston on an ongoing basis. I am Blessed with my work, but being in the kitchen cooking allows my mind to “rest”. My escape from the world of numbers and court dates. I’m doing what I love and sharing with those I hold dear.
I’m a single Mom raising two amazing teenagers and keeping it all together through hard work, prayer, and God given grace. And, my amazing village of girlfriends. 🥂
